*Note for F355 owners : We currently offer a complete Head Rebuild along with a Major Service for F355's. F355's built between 1995 to early 1998 have the well known "inferior" valve guides orginally used by Ferrari, and the heads on these cars will not last. This complete service includes completely removing and rebuilding the heads along with a complete Major Service and a water pump. This particular type of Major Service with Head Rebuild is approximately $12995. Note: Cars with higher mileage (or cars that have gone too long on the old style guides and now have very low compression and poor leak down "irrespective of mileage") may require bottom end work which is extra.
*Note for 360 owners : We currently offer a Comprehensive Major Service for the 360, which includes everything in the Major Service plus a complete Valve Cover Reseal, New Cam Seals, and 2 New Exhaust Cam Variators. This particular service is approximately $6495. It's possible that you might need Hydraulic Tensioner Updating which is extra (for parts only, no charge to install parts).

Some FAQ’s about the Guidelines that we’ve created :
-Why not 30k miles or 3 years ? (per Ferrari)
Quite frankly, we don’t see anyone doing 10k miles per year in their Ferrari. And 3 years seems to be really premature. So we’ve chosen 5 years.
-Why not 30k miles or 5 years ?
At 30k miles, things usually look pretty ratty in there and we’d prefer to keep things cleaner and well kept and do it sooner than 30k miles, like at 15k miles.
-Why 3 years on the 360 and not on the F355 ?
Even though they use the exact same timing belt, there have been some tensioner problems on the 360 that should be looked at sooner rather than later. And because the F355 is “an engine out” endeavor, and has not experienced tensioner problems (that we’ve seen) we let it go a little longer. Also, the timing belt has been revised.
-Why 30k miles on the 360 major then, and not 20k like the F355 ?
360 cars are still somewhat “newer”, and tend to stay “tighter” longer, and haven’t seen the issues F355’s have had. Thus, we feel it can go longer, and is better served by doing a timing belt change at 3 years or 15k miles, and "a la carte-ing" the rest of the way until you get to 30k miles.
-Why 15k miles on the 348 and not the F355 ?
348 engines used one long timing belt and do not have dynamic tensioners like the F355, they have “one time” lock down tensioners, thus, belt play / stretch are an issue.
-Whatever happened to the 5-7 year rule ?
7 years is do-able is some cases. Several times a year we get a call from an owner who says “it's been 5 years since my last major, but, I’ve only driven 5k miles and nothing appears to be leaking”...in these cases, we say “go ahead and run it a couple more”.
-I bought a car and it has no records. What should I do ?
Unfortunately, you need to do a major now to protect your investment.
The above is simply our opinion and ours alone. Exact time and mileage are not cast in stone. We’ve tried to create some written guidelines. However, each customer, car, and usage are different and may require service sooner than the above guidelines. Lastly, different people use different rules, and we expect this topic to be debated until hell freezes over. Soon, we expect to see this information cut and pasted onto other 'copy cater' websites that can't seem to be original. Just remember you saw it here first.
